Dr. Qureshi ‘s path to his current position as the Founder, CEO and Medical Director of QDx Pathology Services is a story of dedication and commitment to excellence and leadership.
Dr. Qureshi’s ability to lead and motivate people became apparent even in his school days. His dedication to helping develop leadership in youth and his committment to community has been demonstrated by his involvement with organizations like the Karachi Central Jaycees. Over the past 30 years, Dr. Qureshi has represented the Pakistan Jaycees in many Internationalmeetings and has served on the board of the Asia Pacific Development Council. He introduced the concept of Basic Education Centers and organized numerous leadership development programs and management training seminars for college students and young professionals.
In 1984, he came to the United States to seek a higher education. At Tulane University, his PhD thesis described an alternate receptor for entry of HIV in CD4+ cells and was formally recognized as a major breakthrough in understanding infection of HIV in non-CD4 positive cells. His keen interest in clinical research continues today.
Dr. Qureshi was selected for one of ten fellowship positions for the United States Public Health and Clinical Microbiology and Immunology at Mount Sinai Hospital and Medical Center in New York. During his Fellowship, he was made Director of the first HIV testing laboratory at Mount Sinai.
After completion of his fellowship, he was hired as Director of Virology
Laboratories at Beth Israel Medical Center New York. He received notable awards for Best Resident Research at Beth Israel Medical Center and was the recipient of the prestigious “Stowell-Orbison Award and the Binford-Damin Award from the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology.
Dr. Qureshi then joined the Faculty of College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University where he designed a state-of-the-art grossing facility with telemedicine capability and streamlined resident interaction and training. His design was nationally acclaimed and has since been used by leading manufacturers of pathology grossing stations.
Dr. Qureshi left Columbia University to take an entrepreneurial path, joining Bayonne Hospital in New Jersey as Director of Virology and Immunohistochemistry and later as Chief Medical Officer and Medical Director of Lakewood Pathology Laboratories, a failing local laboratory which Dr. Qureshi was able to turn around in less than 2 years.
Dr. Qureshi started his own reference laboratory, QDx Pathology Services in 2006. In two short years the company, under his direction, grew to over 75 employees and expanded to serve physicians in seven states. Dr. Qureshi’s commitment to quality and passion for excellence has established the reputation of QDX Pathology Services as a center of excellence in genitourinary, gastrointestinal and gynecologic Pathology.
