Naveen Naqvi

Naveen Naqvi is a Senior Anchor at Pakistan’s first English Language channel, DawnNews. She presents the morning news program, Breakfast at Dawn. It is the only show in Pakistan that incorporates social networking sites including Facebook and Twitter, an innovation in journalism that was brought by Naveen. She is the only Pakistani presenter to tweet live on air, and quips that even if others follow her lead, she’ll still be the first!
In July 2009, Naveen started writing with the blog section of Dawn’s website and soon after for The Huffington Post.
The idea behind converging the two media – new and mainstream – is to give a voice to the liberal, educated and otherwise, unheard Pakistanis. The more selfish reason is that she loves it!
As a journalist, Naveen was invited to the Eurasian Media Forum in April 2009. There she interviewed former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, and chaired a panel discussion with leading analysts and journalists on media management of Gaza conflict. Some of the better known names are George Galloway and Gideon Levy.
More recently, she was invited on a panel of Pakistan’s top seven journalists to interview the visiting US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton.
Prior to DawnNews, Naveen worked from 2002 – 05 as Producer Pakistan of NBC News. She started off as a fixer and worked her way up to bureau chief. Here she worked on news stories for Nightly News and Today show, conducted on-camera interviews, reported breaking news for MSNBC, wrote stories for MSNBC.com, and managed the Islamabad bureau. She assisted in the coordination of two interviews with General Pervez Musharraf – one for Tom Brokaw
Naveen has also been (in another life) an entertainment television production manager, television actor and model. As the presenter for Music Channel Charts, she did another first for Pakistani TV when she became the first VJ ever.

Mujahid Barelvi

Mujahid Barelvi is a veteran journalist from Pakistan. He is known for his cut throat questioning skills and journalistic integrity. This man alone is responsible for bringing hope to the masses by taking their live calls in his numerous shows on politics, over the years. Barelvi has proved to be a tough contender for almost all, who have failed to perform in their public duties. He is well versed in both local and international politics and has traveled extensively world wide.

Mujahid is a critic by all means with a strong and pro active analytical approach. His candid and obdurate style, keeps his audience enchanted, which is regularly observed in his current, daily eveninger “Doosra Pehlu” for CNBC Pakistan. This show not only connects him with local viewers but provides access to interviewing guests, globally.

Mujahid was the first Pakistani journalist to enter Kabul in 1979, after the Soviet Invasion. He was also the secretary of the Karachi Press Club for two years from 1987. He is responsible for several prolific articles for political journals and newspapers and has authored six books on Afghanistan and Baluchistan. As a progressive writer and publisher he founded various magazines, weeklies, and monthlies. Sonehra Daur Karachi that he founded in 80's earned him a great opportunity to air the truth from the left groups in Pakistan. Bankari was a monthly that would help a political activist know about the economic and fiscal realities. Mujahid Barevlvi is an Editor who will edit what he had full command upon, to help provide something new to his readership while at the same time keeping his working journalists, reports, and other employees satisfied with respect to earning. Thus he can be termed one of the few industrymen who cares for his workers. Those Karachites in the journalism business would express great respect for Mujahid Barelvi particularly because of his parents who were great scholars.
