Tariq Ikram

Mr. Tariq Ikram was most recently the President of the Textile Institute of Pakistan, a prestigious educational institution, specializing in a wide spectrum of Textile and Apparel education. He has a wide academic back ground covering Sciences, English literature, British and American Histories, International Relations and Business Management, achieved both within and outside Pakistan. His professional training covers almost every aspect of business management. His experience covers management of MNCs both within Pakistan and the Middle East, South Asia, Levant and North African countries at the levels of Chief Executive, Chairman and Regional head. During his Chief- executive ship the business achieved a compound growth in 20.75 percent per annum in revenue for over 17 years and almost same in cash terms. He has served as a Minister of State in the government of Pakistan for 8 years ending May 2008. He was responsible for exports of Pakistan as the CE of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan. Exports grew from US$ 7.8 Bn to over US$ 19 Bn during this period. Amongst various other recognitions, he was awarded Sitara i Imtiaz (SI) for his services by the President of Pakistan and twice awarded Gold Medals by the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Pakistan and the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan. He was twice recognized for his services by the President of Pakistan Gen (R) Pervez Musharraf in his book ‘In the Line of fire’. His professional contributions include Presidentships of the Overseas Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Management Association of Pakistan, Marketing Association of Pakistan. He is the Founder President of Pakistan Research Society and the Pakistan Advertisers Society of Pakistan. He has served as a Director on various Public and private sector businesses such as Karachi Electric Supply Corporation, Pakistan Petroleum, Reckitt Benckiser, Atlantis Pakistan, Robinsons Foods B’desh Reckitt and Colman Nigeria and Egypt. He has been a guest speaker trainer at various local and international, in both public and private sector, fora. His innovations include the first ever Retail Audit and ICT Based Field Sales Management process in the FMCG industry in Pakistan, first ever structured initiative to minimize trade mark infringement and presented this process at the WIPO Geneva seminar held in Pakistan Mr. Ikram is married with 3 children and is resident of Karachi Pakistan.
